This artwork is a visual exploration of a fragmented identity, capturing the silent, heavy reality of being "unplugged" from the core narratives of both my deep ancestral African history and my familiar but distant and hollow, American heritage. As an African American, navigating the cultural landscape often means existing in a perpetual state of suspension between two worlds, fully anchored to neither. It reflects the exhausting effort to connect with an American culture that frequently feels hollow, transactional, or distant.
