My artwork is about the justice system and how it can feel weaponized against Black people. The blue background represents the police, authority, and institutional power, while the black background represents Black communities and their struggle, with a large gavel striking down toward Black hands reaching for justice. I created this piece to show how justice is not always experienced equally and to encourage viewers to reflect on race, power, inequality and the idea that melanin should not determine justice.
